FC Malaga City New York defender Gabriel Souza admitted it was an “amazing feeling” to win against Boston Bolts last night.
Los Lobos secured a 1-0 victory over the league-leaders thanks to an 80th-minute goal from Captain Max Peterson.
“It’s an amazing feeling to get that first win, he said. “It’s something we’ve been working very hard for - and we hope to build off that over the next few weeks.
“The entire squad is looking forward to be able to build off this result.
“We understand that there are still things to improve on but I feel we have built a solid foundation.
“We’re excited to continue developing as a team in order to reach our goal of making the playoffs at the end of the season.”
Souza revealed he was “proud” of the team’s defensive efforts, and believes his is building a strong centre-back partnership with Miguel Carranza.
“We fought like absolute warriors all game and I could not be prouder of our intensity and the way we defended down the stretch,” he continued.
“I feel Miguel (Carranza) and I complement each other nicely at the heart of the defence.
“I’m excited to continue strengthening our relationship on the field - and develop a partnership that the squad can rely on.”
