Dutchess County Football Club Cuts Ties with Spanish Club, Rebrands

PRESS RELEASE

Pathfinder FC, The region’s first and only full-time residential soccer academy providing direct

pathways for athletes who wish to pursue collegiate and professional careers in soccer, announces the dissolution of its joint venture with FC Malaga City in Spain in order to provide more genuine pathways for it's players, and align with the local community.

Dutchess County, New York, August 14th, 2021. Pathfinder FC will continue to compete in the

prestigious USL Academy League with a senior team in USL League Two. The dissolution of its joint venture with the Spanish club allows direct relationships with professional clubs across Europe. Three of Pathfinder FC's players have already been invited for trials in Reus and Tarragona, Spain. In addition to rebranding as Pathfinder FC, there is a new website (pathfinderfc.com), new logo, n

ew winter camp in Salou (Catalonia), and a renewed focus on building a stronger alignment with the local community and Dutchess County initiatives.

“'Pathfinder', in a word, describes what we do,” said Colin McComb, Pathfinder FC's CEO. “Our goal is to give players genuine opportunities; not just an experience. To do that, we need to have direct relationships with the clubs and universities that can provide those opportunities”.

Additionally, the Pathfinder FC's commitment to local youth development was not captured in the joint venture branding. Local community players eight and older, are provided with insight to potential career pathways in and around the sport through a yearly 11-month competitive program. 90% of the youth development program's fees are covered by Pathfinder FC.

“By providing a non-pay-to-play environment for youth development we can select dedicated, driven and committed players regardless of economic backgrounds,” said Colin McComb, Pathfinder's CEO. "Love of the sport unifies a community representative of the diversity of Dutchess County, and we believe it will translate into greater support for our senior team".

Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro said, “In Dutchess County, we proudly encourage our young people of every ability to hone their talents, reach their fullest potential and develop their physical and mental health along their ‘Path to Promise’ toward a successful adulthood. I wish Pathfinder FC, this latest asset for youth located in Dutchess County, every success in its new endeavor to cultivate collaborative relationships that will result in similarly beneficial outcomes for its young student-athletes and we look forward to working together to achieve them.”
